This week was the second year Lubbock hosted the NJCAA Division I Women’s National Basketball Championship. Therefore, I have spent most of this past week at LCU’s Rip Griffin Center watching the field of 24 teams narrow down to a rematch of last year’s championship. Defending-champion Gulf Coast State College and runner-up Trinity Valley Community College faced off again yielding similar results with the Lady Commodores taking a 24-point victory.
Also, you can see the slideshow from Mark at the A-J.

Today, hundreds of student-athletes from Texas, including four from Lubbock, competed against each other in skill challenges during The Opening Regional Dallas. Several of the players are also considering attending Texas Tech as their college to play division 1 football. Many of the football players are elite enough they will likely play on Sundays in the future. Additionally, it was interesting having the chance to see the Dallas Cowboys new practice facility, The Ford Center at The Star in Frisco.
